The Secret Of Clear And Radiant Skin

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 11:28 pm

`Mirror, mirror on the wall, who`s the fairest of them all?` – Well, we do not need to be as narcissistic as the wicked stepmother in this famous children`s fairy tale but we can certainly take steps to ensure a clear, radiant skin! External and internal factors are both responsible for making our skin what it is.

The internal ones like a nutritious diet and proper exercise can be monitored by us to give us a healthy skin. What we eat and drink affects the texture of our skin to a large extent and we must ensure plenty of fruits, vegetables and water in our daily dietary intake to keep the skin supple and healthy. Since external factors like pollution, weather is not in our control, we must take the help of good skin care products to safeguard against the free radicals which can damage our skin.

Pollution has become an inescapable part of life and a certain amount of exposure is inevitable. Free radicals in the polluted atmosphere clogs up the pores, makes the skin dehydrated and rough, deprives it of oxygen and hastens the aging process. Fine lines begin to appear on the face and necks making you look older than you actually are. To counteract the ill effects of these external factors, it is necessary to maintain a strict daily regime of cleansing, toning and moisturizing your skin with high-quality skin care products which suit your skin type.

Keeping your skin clean is the first most basic step of a glowing skin. Though soap and water is the most regular skin care product, it is necessary to ensure that soaps especially made for the face should be used as these have the right pH (potential of Hydrogen – a measure of the acidity) balance and do not make the skin ultra dry. Various types of cleansing milks, lotions, soaps and gels are available in the market and you can choose the one most suited to your skin type.

A variety of scrubs are also available to exfoliate dead skin, blackheads and whiteheads from the surface of the skin. Scrubs are skin care products which should not be used daily but once or twice a week. Besides being excellent for removing all dead cells from the face, they are also very good for other exposed parts of the body like the knees, elbows, hands and feet.

After cleansers, come toners in liquid form which are used to wipe away the leftover dirt or grime after the cleansing and to tone up the skin. Rose water toner, cucumber toner, mint toner or alcohol and alum toners are all excellent toners suitable for many types of skin.

Moisturizing comes last and skin care products related to this should be chosen with care. Moisturizers keep the skin hydrated which is so necessary for soft and supple skin. Dry skins benefit from heavier moisturizers whereas for oily skin gels are very good.

Apart from these basic skin care products, there are specialized products like make-up removal creams or lotions, anti-wrinkle creams, skin-tightening creams, collagen-inducing creams, eye creams, night creams; the variety is mind boggling as you will find a product for every niche. Removing all traces of make-up before going to bed is essential to let the skin breathe and rejuvenate itself in the night and for this a make-up removal cream or lotion may be considered to be an integral part of the daily skin care routine. The usage of the rest of the specialized products is a personal preference.

Our skin is a living, breathing organ and we have to keep it healthy and radiant with the help of suitable skin care products.

The History of the Restaurant Apron

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 9:25 pm

The restaurant apron is worn for a couple of different reasons by all kinds of staff members in the food industry. One of the reasons was to protect the clothing underneath it from getting messy, from wear, and from tear. Another reason was for hygienic purposes, and yet another reason is to provide something to wipe hands on and something to hold a ticket book when needed.

Up until about the 1900s, aprons were worn by women every day, all day, and they were actually considered as part of a females attire. Today of course they are worn by women, men, and children who are working on projects, cooking food, baking desserts, working on arts and crafts, painting, building, and for any other activities that require the use of them. Did you know that the original word for a restaurant apron is napron? Gradually, the name was changed to the word we know today as the n was eventually dropped. Over the years, the style and purpose of this handy little piece of attire has changed to be suitable for different jobs.

The napron as we think of it today was introduced in 1960, and housewives across the country who were privy to all kinds of handy household machines valued them to protect those pretty dresses so that they would remain presentable for their husbands when they arrived home from work for dinner. Normally they are worn around the waist and can fall to the knee, the calf, or the ankle. Other types of aprons include longer lengths that go up to the neck with a strap around this area to keep it up.

Today, they are used by housemaids, hotel staff, nurses, students, scientists, mechanics, doctors, wait staff, banquet servers, and many others as well. Not only do these restaurant aprons keep the wearers clean, they also can be used as decorative garments and to advertise with different logos or pictures on them.

Depending on what the attire is needed for, these are made of different materials such as rubber, PVC, lead, cotton, leather, and more as well. There are many different styles, lengths, and colors that they are available in as well, and depending on the wearers specific needs, they can be purchased in styles with one or two pockets in them as well. There are many different places online that you can find discount restaurant uniforms at, and using a search engine might be your best bet for finding them online.

Top Accessory Trends For 2009

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 6:07 pm

During the recession it has become more difficult for many woman to spend vast sums of money on their clothes, however, thanks to accessories every woman can at least give a fresh look to her wardrobe by selecting accessories which will refresh and bring existing clothes a new lease of life.

Accessories are one of the least expensive and easiest ways to update your wardrobe. So with the arrival of autumn and winter 2009, now is a good time to start looking for accessories which will last through the seasons and into next spring. One of the greatest advantages with carefully chosen accessories is that they can be used in any season or on any occasion.

Arm cuffs, bangles and bracelets:
Beautiful bracelets, bangles and cuffs have been used to adorn women’s wrists and arms for thousands of years! They are popular today, having stood the test of time in providing a chic and stylish way to enhance an outfit. For a unique look, layer several bangles of different colours and materials. Bracelets provide the required sheen to the otherwise dull and traditional cardigan or jacket suit. However, be sure that your bracelets peek through your sleeves otherwise they simply won’t be seen! Wide bangles are a great way to make larger arms appear slimmer!

A statement necklace:
Whether you opt for bold collars, layered looks or looped strands, your necklaces should compliment your outfit to get noticed. Since these modern styles necklaces are normally bold, the rest of your outfit should be simple and classic in order that they do not vie for attention against each other.

Beautiful earrings:
The chandeliers styles you purchased some years ago need to be given a rest this year! It is time to embrace trendy oversized rings and lengthy shoulder dusters! Tribal designs are the latest trend and give you an ethnic look. Like necklaces, bold and dazzling earrings also require a simple outfit. Like the bold necklace, make sure the rest of your outfit is more subdued or classic when wearing a pair of long dangling or dazzling earrings.

Define your waist with a belt:
Belts are wardrobe staples that are also in trend this year. Belts can be worn over a cardigan, blouse, dress, blazer and over any top you own! However, with belts in different finishes, colours, and materials, don’t even think of wearing the wrong outfit with the wrong belt as it will spoil the balance and style of your clothes. Black patent belts make for a good wardrobe piece because they can be worn during all seasons and make an astounding fashion statement. Belt layering is one of this year’s hottest trends which can really make a waist line look slim which is great news for those who wear larger womens clothing.

Footwear:
No matter what the latest trend, boots are essential footwear for those in the UK. Whether it is a pair of sexy stilettos, flats or more classical styles boots that you own, they can perfectly complement all your skirts and also the ankle-bearing trousers that were recently added to your wardrobe! Another way you can achieve the strappy look in a more ultramodern style is by selecting cut-out boots that allow exposure of skin at the heels, insteps and toes which may not be waterproof but definitely make a fashion statement!

Where to Spray Perfumes for Maximum Benefit

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 6:06 pm

As many make their first foray into perfumes and colognes, they begin to wonder how to spray their perfume properly. While there are a few common methods in spraying perfumes, there really is no wrong or right way.

The most common method of all perfume spraying techniques is to dab the perfume on pressure points. When applying perfume, you want to focus on dabbing it on your inner wrists and neck, which are some of the warmest parts of your body. The warmth of these areas will help diffuse the scent as your body naturally warms up throughout the day. You could choose to spray your perfume directly onto each pressure point, or you could choose to spray the perfume onto one pressure point and then use your inner wrists to dab and spread the perfume.

Some perfume aficionados love to spray perfume on other pressure points besides the neck and inner wrists. Other pressure points include the harder-to-reach, oft-neglected spots behind the ears and behind the knees. Because these spots are relatively hidden, many perfume lovers would argue against any direct benefits of spraying perfume on these spots. On any given day, you probably would not encounter a large number of people who would sniff behind your ears and behind your knees. So for maximum benefit, most people stick to spraying perfume on their neck and inner wrists.

Another popular perfume spraying technique is the Cloud Method. This method is commonly used by the perfume-shy-those afraid of potentially wreaking fragrant havoc in public places with strong sillage or an overpowering scent. If this sounds like you, give this method a try. With a spray or two, create a cloud of perfume in front of you. Walk into the cloud of perfume as it starts to settle. The idea is that the perfume is evenly distributed all over your body and clothes. Then again, if you are perfume-shy you could always just do a half-spray on one of your wrists and simply dab the perfume onto your other pressure points, thereby spreading a smaller amount of perfume. Remember if you use the Cloud Method, your perfume could fade faster as most of it was probably lost in the air. Also the Cloud Method avoids those pressure points that help warm and revive your perfume.

Another popular alternative method is to spray perfume directly onto your clothes. Many people do this unintentionally as they spray perfume onto their pressure points or into a cloud. Others do it intentionally, and not without good reason. Here’s why: most perfumers today are not primarily concerned with how a perfume will smell on your skin. Perfumers know that most people will test perfumes on paper strips as they breeze through department stores. Thus many perfumes are constructed with the focus on how it will smell on paper. Now how does this apply to perfume spraying methods, you ask? Perfume often smells different on your skin than it does on your clothes. And now with the current situation of perfume development looking the way it is, perhaps you might better enjoy the way a perfume smells on your clothes than on your skin. You could experiment by spraying perfume on your clothes to see if it lingers longer or simply smells better. Just check before you experiment to ensure that your perfume won’t damage, stain or dye your clothing.

As any perfume expert will tell you, there is no right way to spray perfume. Spritz, dab or create perfume clouds to your heart’s content. Whatever your perfume application method, the end effect is perfume on your skin-just the way you wanted it!

Tips for Shopping Online for Restaurant Uniforms

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 11:03 am

In days gone by it was very difficult to find a wide assortment of companies to buy restaurant uniforms from. Thanks to the Internet though, there are more companies than ever available that are competing for your business. The local economy no longer exists, and the Internet has brought with it a global economy instead. Owners who are searching for the best prices and the highest quality of restaurant uniforms for their staff members are often delighted at the sheer number of suppliers and inventories that they have right at their fingertips.

To make sure that you find the best deals on the best products for your establishment, youll want to open up your resources to companies who are far away as well as those that are closer to you. If you live in the middle of Oklahoma, you are now able to access companies who have warehouses full of discount uniforms that are in Wisconsin. Those items that you purchase from Wisconsin will only take a few days to arrive to you once they are shipped, so if you can find what you need at better prices there why limit yourself to companies that are close by? Transit time does not vary much today, and you often have a few shipping choices as well that can include priority, air, or overnight expedited delivery.

Another good tip when you are shopping for restaurant uniforms online is to find the websites with discounts and pricing specials. Many of the most popular companies will hold special sales events just like traditional physical stores do. Many of them also offer volume discounts when a certain quantity of aprons are bought at once for example. They might also offer free shipping for customers who order above a certain dollar amount for their orders. Do not make the mistake of buying from the very first website that you find you will want to shop around first and make some comparisons, just like you would if you had three physical brick and mortar stores next to each other. If you had three stores lined up on a street and you went into one for zipper ties, it would be wise to check the prices at the other two first before you purchase those ties, right?

One final word to the wise about purchasing restaurant uniforms online: Always check and double check your colors, sizes, and styles before you make the final purchase. If you are ordering shirts or pants, you will probably want to find out if the sizes run large or small so that you can adjust accordingly. This way your ordering will be more accurate and your employees will have an easier time finding clothing that will fit them. If you are ordering aprons or hats though, this will not be quite as much of an issue. These are just a few tips for you to keep in mind when ordering restaurant uniforms online.

Are You Fashion Savvy? Ten Tips for Dressing Well

Monday 31 August 2009 @ 10:04 am

Within each new challenge there are always hidden gifts, for these are the times that strengthen our resolve and allow us to build new dreams. Quote by – Flavia Weedn

With the costs of buying clothing today and the constant change in styles, bargains are a treasure. Especially on a limited budget, and for working women this is a definite challenge. Yet, dressing well can be done.

Since it takes money to build a wardrobe, the key is in the planning. Here are ten tips, tidbits, and ideas to get you started. . .

* Get to know your own particular fashion styles including the strengths and weaknesses of your figure type. Make a point to focus on a clear image of what you consider being well dressed. Get to know exactly what you like, want, and what looks well on you. Buy only what suits you best without relying on the opinion of someone else. Nor should you base your final decision on what is popular at the current moment.

* Learn to stretch your fashion dollars by saving any clothing you already have. Make an inventory of what you have in your closet by separating your wearable items into two main categories. One is your spring-summer wear; the other is your fall-winter wear. Then you can easily see what needs to be replaced when each season begins.

* Shoes complete your outfit and are major items that must be frequently kept clean and in shape. When you constantly walk along cemented sidewalks the heels and soles of your shoe take a beating. So, remember to have them repaired as frequently as possible and discard them when they are unsalvageable.

* Accessories add the crowning touch to any outfit and often may be the central aim of the way you dress. Sometimes your outfit is planned around your choice of accessories. As such an important part, give them your full attention. Keep your jewelry in a sparkling state by giving your pieces a frequent beauty bath. Just using soap and warm water, or a commercial cleaner is good.

* When shopping, plan to make trips only for items you need that will meet your personality and uniqueness. No matter how much you wish to follow the majority by purchasing what is advertised and offered in the stores, or what is popular at the moment, if you are not a glamorous entertainer, a closet full of after-five outfits will be a waste of money. Buy clothing for what you spend most of your time doing. This is where the biggest part of your money goes.

* Decide what you can afford to spend. If, like most people, you have a limited amount to spend on clothing, make the most of each purchase. Plan well and with good values in mind. Avoid trendy fashions and fads that go out of style within three to six months. For longer lasting value, classic styles in dresses, suits and coats are always a good investment.

* Choose a special place for everything and keep everything in its place. That way you will know where to look when you need it. Fold knitted sweaters and put them in a drawer or on a shelf. Keep jewelry, belts, hose, gloves, and hats in their own special place.

* Learn from past shopping mistakes. When your fashion budget is limited, set aside a clothing allowance. Try to keep a log of everything you spend for the month and plan ahead for emergencies. Allow half of your budget for your fall and winter wardrobe; the other half for spring-summer wear. Be sure to buy the best you can afford in your coats; the same applies for your dresses and suits. Quality is more important then quantity.

* At times when your social life is full or more active, an ideal wardrobe should include fashions that are suitable for special occasions. In this case, your clothing may be geared to a specific type of activity. For example, if you were active in sports, your wardrobe would reflect more sportswear. If you attend parties, entertain, or attend upscale events, then your wardrobe would have more eveningwear fashions.

* Keep up with fashion trends and what goes on in the fashion industry. Study fashion magazines. Go window-shopping before planning your wardrobe. Know what looks best on your figure and plan outfits, accessories, and shoes that you can wear and coordinate into several different ensembles.

These ten tips, tidbits and ideas are just a tip of the iceberg. Follow your own insight, know how much you have to spend, and buy only what matches your unique style. These wise and savvy fashion choices lead toward your pursuit to dressing well.

Learn How Our Smiles Affect Us

Sunday 30 August 2009 @ 10:42 pm

We know a smile influences perceived attractiveness because people will size you up on what your teeth look like. This is unfortunate.

However, little information is known about how patients perceive their own smiles. Various considerations are important in determining the success of cosmetic dentistry because patients and dentists may focus on different aspects of the smile.

Various groups in a specialized study were asked to individually rank the photos in order from most appealing to least appealing. The preferred female smile showed natural teeth, a high lip line, a display of many teeth and symmetry to the smile.

The best male smiles revealed a moderate display of teeth, a moderate lip line and symmetry. The most prevalent response for an attractive smile involved a light tooth shade.

Many respondents found that a dark shade was the least attractive aspect of a smile. Another study showed that frontal and profile views are rated differently by patients.

This is important when orthodontic treatment is being considered. Many general dentists and orthodontists will consider the profile view for major orthodontic procedures, but may not always take it into account when planning for minor procedures.

This study reveals that the profile view should be carefully considered to reach an aesthetically acceptable conclusion to treatment. You should ask for a smile analysis.

Some dentists now offer a smile analysis. This examination can help you decide exactly what you’d like fixed.

Any analysis should consider tooth shade, distribution of color, defects and discoloration of the tooth structure, crowding, spacing, visible fillings or crowns, shape and size of teeth, and the amount of gum tissue shown when smiling. Once you and your dentist determine the areas of your smile you would like to improve, a treatment plan for reaching an acceptable aesthetic result can be obtained.

This plan may include tooth whitening. If you have any tooth-colored restorations in visible areas, these will need to be replaced after whitening because the tooth whitening agent will only affect natural tooth structure.

Veneers, crowns or orthodontics may be used to straighten teeth or close spaces. Bonding, veneering or crowning teeth can cover any defects or discoloration.

These procedures can also change the size and shape of teeth. Prior to a smile analysis, a thorough exam, including appropriate radiographs, should be completed to ensure that more pressing concerns, such as decay and infection, are not present.

Depending upon the results of your smile analysis, your dentist may wish to take impressions of your teeth to create study models. These models can be used to help plan treatment.

After your smile analysis is complete you can take the necessary steps to creating a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing smile. You’ll never be ashamed to smile again.

Fix Gaps In Your Teeth

Sunday 30 August 2009 @ 10:22 pm

Most people, I’d say 99% of people, do not think their gap in their front teeth is attractive. If you find yourself embarrassed to talk or laugh and smile, you may want to consider fixing your gap.

Gaps can occur between any of your teeth, on both the top and bottom rows. They’re usually genetic, although they can also occur because of injury.

Gaps can be quite embarrassing. They are rightly or wrongly often associated with poor dental hygiene.

Aside from being aesthetically unappealing, gaps between teeth are also a breeding ground for bacteria, and can be the precursor to a host of dental problems, like gingivitis and cavities.

There are numerous easy, painless, and quick ways to repair a gap-toothed smile. The most popular method is porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic that can close the gaps between your teeth.

They look (and feel) very much like real teeth, and they can be used to correct a variety of smile problems cracks, chips, discoloration, even gaps.

You can close those gaps in about a month, over the course of three or four dental appointments. The porcelain veneers are permanently attached to the front surface of your teeth with special dental cement.

Porcelain veneers are custom-created from a model of your mouth, and custom-colored to match your natural teeth. Once the porcelain veneers are applied, they’re permanent, and you treat them as you would your natural teeth.

With porcelain veneers to cover the gaps between your teeth you’ll be able to smile with confidence.

It’s important to know that the end result is highly dependent upon the skill of your cosmetic dentist. You want a dentist who has experience with creating, placing and coloring the veneers so be sure and ask lots of questions beforehand, and ask to see samples of past work.

In short, you want to find a cosmetic dentist. This is different from a traditional dentist.

All dentists have been to dental school. Only a cosmetic dentist has then gone on to graduate from cosmetic dentistry school.

It’s there that he or she learns additional dentistry techniques, such as veneer application, laser whitening and neuromuscular misalignment diagnosis and treatment. Traditional, non-cosmetically-trained dentists have neither the experience nor the equipment to properly perform such procedures.

Once you find a cosmetic dentist you feel comfortable performing these procedures then you’re on your way to a beautiful new smile.
