Casio Announces Bluetooth G-Shock Watch At CES

Saturday 3 March 2012 @ 2:29 am

Casio G-Shock watches have been known for their rugged looks and dependability since 1983. Known for being the toughest watch in the world, they have been worn on the wrists of many men and women while participating in various outdoor and extreme activities, as well as being stylish timepieces that can be worn almost anywhere. With a 10 year battery, being able to withstand almost anything, including water and features such as alarms, timers and backlighting, G-Shock watches are known for being functional and durable. In January of 2012, Casio announced a new model that offers more features and technology in its upcoming G-Shock GB-6900.

Offering the same features as traditional Casio G-Shock watches, the GB-6900 takes it a step further. The most anticipated feature of these new watches is that it will have Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth is technology that most people associate with cell phones, computers and high tech video gaming systems. Although there have been Bluetooth watches before, this new technology is Bluetooth LE, which means Low Energy. With this technology, the G-Shock GB-6900 will not have to be recharged and the battery will last for two years.

With Bluetooth technology, watches will be able to be synced with certain types of mobile phones. In addition to keeping accurate time when synced with a cell phone, owners of the GB-6900 will be able to receive information from their phone directly to their watch. This means that phone numbers for incoming calls, emails and even text messages can be viewed right from the display of the watch. This can help make life more convenient, allowing a person to view their phone’s data with just a flick of the wrist. Another handy feature is that the watch can change certain functions on the cell phone, including alarms, directly from the timepiece.

The GB-6900 offers the same rugged style as traditional G-Shock watches. These can be worn when in the great outdoors or just as a stylish and casual watch at anytime. Available in red, white or black, the G-Shock GB-6900 has something to match everyone’s style. Since the announcement by Casio, people are waiting in anticipation to purchase the watches. The GB-6900 is set to be released in Japan on March 16th, 2012. The price is rumored to be around $230 when they are released. Although Casio has not set an official date for release in the United States, it has been estimated that they will be available in the US and other areas at the end of 2012 or possibly in 2013.

Casio has remained a watch manufacturer who always produces watches with the best technology, along with stylishness and durability so that they last for years. With the new G-Shock GB-6900, the company is setting the bar even higher, ensuring that they remain one of the most popular brands when it comes to watches that offer the features that customers are looking for. The G-Shock GB-6900 takes watches to a new level to make them not only functional, but helps make life a little easier.

Unique Jewellery, How To Get It?

Friday 2 March 2012 @ 11:13 pm

Jewellery has been with us since we began to manufacture tools and resources, the colourful and rarity of the gems, metals and stones must have enticed our more artistic creative side and over the next few millennia we refined our skills and intricacy and through the ages have been able to come up with some incredibly extravagant as well as delicate pieces. Our love of unique and eye catching jewellery has never desisted if anything it has only intensified as our global communication increased and more and more resources became available to us thanks to easy global travel and trade. Now we are lucky enough to be wearing Turquoise mainly mined in South-West North America to the Rubies of South-East Asia.

So when it comes 2012 is there such thing as unique jewellery? It’s been around forever and every gem has been added and every metal manipulated…but luckily with passing fashions it’s given us the ability to see jewellery in a new light every few decades! So when it comes to getting your hands on some what is the best thing to look out for? Well the first thing to work out is what you are looking for, and by this I mean precisely. You need to work out what type of jewel you want, then what metal will compliment it the best and finally design, though you could start with design as most people have a clearer vision of the motif but this is solely up to you.

So when picking what you want you can be slightly lost in a sea of choice because of our global trade possibilities, so let me break down all the selection and varieties.

Gems:
Amber, is an organic gem made out of tree resin and has a lovely translucent orange colour. Also to be fully classified as Amber it must be over 100 million years old.

Amethyst, is the highest sort after quartz gemstone, having a rich purple colour has made it a popular choice for royalty to high street.

Diamond, pure crushed carbon, the hardest substance known to man, easily the most converted stone on this planet and the price reflects this.

Emerald, stained rich green from touches of chromium in its element compound structure. To be this is the most beautiful of all the gems because of its intensity and has been used as far back as 3500 bc.

Jade, known as the stone of heaven and heavily associated with Asian culture it. Though normally known for its green colour you can also get blue, lavender-mauve and pink.

Ruby, the king of the gem stones it has special physical properties that give it an added luminescence. You can also get it in additional hues of orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.

Sapphire, known for its strong concentration in colour it is the most affordable out of emerald, diamond and sapphire. Its purple tone has many regal connections.

Metals:
Gold, pure gold should be so soft it can be moulded by the hand but because of this we add extras to give it more strength. The most expensive of the rare metals it has been a stable of jewellery since the beginning and will do forever.

Silver, the step below gold has a more metallic looking structure and has a more timeless look. Though seen as second best to gold its use in modern jewellery has made it a favourite.

Platinum, known for its grey white colour, it is a very expensive malleable metal. It is one of the most rare elements within the Earth’s crust making its resale value on the high end of chain. Though because of its heavy consistency reacts badly with salts therefor never allowing it to become more precious than the totally inherit metal gold.

So if fashion is leaning towards chunky gold, look for a medium sized chain, this keeps it more universal between trends but still staying fashionable. If the in colour is blue, look out for a green blue for similar reason to the metal. This aspect will keep you instead for the jewellery you buy for the rest of your life and you will always be able to keep and find unique pieces of jewellery custom or high street.

Buying and Selling Gold Jewellery

Thursday 1 March 2012 @ 8:54 pm

Buying gold isn’t that difficult to do. When dealing with gems, an expert eye is needed to determine the quality of the gem. You don’t have that problem with gold. All real gold jewellery will have a karat quality mark. This mark let you know the purity of the gold jewellery. In most cases, the mark will read 24k, 18k, 14k, or 10k. If the mark reads 24k, you are dealing with pure gold. It is important to note that some sophisticated fake jewellery will have karat quality marks, so it is important to take the look and feel of the jewellery into account when determining if it is authentic or not.

When looking to purchase gold jewellery, you can choose between white and yellow gold. Although not as common as yellow gold, white gold can be a valuable addition to your jewellery collection. White gold is coated with rhodium or platinum to give it a silver-like shine. Because of its appearance, people often confuse white gold with silver or platinum.

Sell your gold jewellery according to its value. It is always best to sell you jewellery yourself when compared to selling it to a pawn shop or jewellery store. These places will buy the jewellery from you at a low price so that they can sell it for a profit. Look to get at least 40-50 percent less than the jewellery is worth if you decide to sell it to a pawn shop or jewellery store. Place an add on the Internet and sell your gold pieces yourself.

Decide if you want to buy gold-plated jewellery. Gold-plated jewellery is simply another metal coated with gold. In most cases, gold-plated jewellery will be yellow gold. Because the gold is prone to coming off the metal it is coating, this type of jewellery is not to be worn too often. These pieces are also know to cause skin irritation if worn by people with sensitive skin.

Don’t send your jewellery away to places that buy gold through the mail. You can end up waiting weeks for a response; the response and price quote that you get is rarely worth the wait. If you are not satisfied with the money that you are offered, you then have to pay to get your gold shipped back to you.

Exercise caution if you decide to buy gold online. You are not getting a chance to examine the gold in person. Even if the gold jewellery is authentic, you may not be satisfied with the look of the piece when you receive it. The return process can also be a nightmare. It is always best to buy gold that you have a chance to examine with your eyes and hands. Not only is the look important, the feel of the jewellery is important as well. If you do decide to buy gold online, buy it from a seller who is local so you can set up an appointment to examine the gold jewellery.

What To Look For In The Perfect Engagement Ring

Thursday 1 March 2012 @ 8:53 pm

If you are a couple looking to get engaged, you might be confused about how to purchase the perfect engagement ring. Men would previously have purchased a ring and then proposed. However, times have changed and more couples select the ring after they have decided to get married. When selecting a ring, the couple should have an idea of what their budget is. The conventional plan is to purchase a ring that is the equivalent of two month’s salary for the gentleman. Even though this is the standard, it does not need to adhered to if the couple has a smaller budget to adhere to.

The setting for an ring is one of the main things you should choose. Some couples choose the traditional solitaire setting. The traditional setting is a single half-carat or one-carat diamond on a ring band. However, couples wanting to add more of their own style and personality to an engagement ring can choose from a tension, side stone or pave setting. These are only a few examples of the settings available to you. Your perfect engagement ring is one in which the sophistication of the ring is coupled to your creativity. Some of the other creative settings also consist of three stones that show off the diamonds with flair.

A diamond is usually the classic gemstone within an ring. With gemstones there are a lot of choices on how they can look. The clarity, cut, color and carat of a diamond ring will always be essential when choosing a diamond. The perfect engagement ring should have a gemstone that has been cut correctly to show off the beauty of the setting, and the stone of the ring should compliment the setting in which it is placed. Considering the shape of the diamond is also a prerequisite for the perfect ring. In choosing the ring, couples can select from shapes such as a heart, pear, oval, round, square and marquise.

The clarity of the diamond can really make a difference and will determine how well the stone looks within the setting. This is why it is important to only select a certified gemstone for your engagement ring. More couples are selecting colored gemstones, so use any favorite colored stones such as citrines, sapphires or rubies. You can even have your ring custom-made with a colored yellow or pink diamond.

The type of metal for an engagement ring band is not something the couple should ignore. Rings can be created with anything from white gold, gold to platinum metal. When choosing the metal, consider what will look best with your skin tone. Platinum is the classic metal for the ring band because it is a harder metal that can withstand all of your activities while wearing your ring. Remember that softer metals such as gold should be purchased at least at 18-karat. White gold metal bands are an option for those who would like to spend less, but want something that resembles platinum.

Guidelines For Selecting The Best Diamond Ring

Tuesday 21 February 2012 @ 9:00 pm

Diamonds are available in various shapes such as round, marquise, heart, oval, pear, and princess. How a rough diamond crystal is cut not only determines its eventual shape, but sparkle as well. The greater the number of cuts, the more a diamond will sparkle, and the more durable it will be. When selecting a diamond ring, look at different cuts available as you will likely acquire a natural preference for one. If you want lots of sparkle for your ring, choose a diamond that has a brilliant cut. Such a diamond will reflect large amounts of light, making it even more beautiful. Other available cuts include a mixed cut and step cut. Step cut diamonds sparkle less compared to brilliant cut diamonds, but the cut highlights the clarity of the stone. A mixed cut is a combination of both step and brilliant cut.

There are seven different clarity ratings for diamond stones ranging from flawless to noticeable impurities or inclusions without magnification. The clarity of a diamond ring determines its quality and price. Those that are rated flawless are of high quality and have higher prices. When choosing a diamond ring, check if it has any foreign particles such as black spots or scratches trapped in it.

Color ratings of diamonds include colorless, faint color, noticeable color, and obvious color. Clear diamonds are more preferred, as they have greater sparkle due to the large amount of light that they reflect. The clearer the color, the greater the value of a diamond, and the higher the price.

Common metals for diamond rings include yellow or white gold, sterling silver, titanium, and platinum. Platinum is commonly found in engagement and eternity rings as it is resilient. Silver is not a common option for frequently worn rings as it is prone to tarnishing. The type of metal you choose should enhance the color and clarity of your diamond ring.

A setting refers to the way a diamond is positioned and held in place in the ring. There are different settings available for diamond rings. Examples include prong settings, channel settings, and bezel settings. The type of setting used can either make a diamond appear smaller or bigger. A bezel setting, for example, will make a diamond look larger. This is because the rim around the diamond creates an illusion of a larger diamond. To determine which type of setting to choose, consider the size and shape of a diamond and the strength of the metal used.

Carat refers to the weight of a diamond stone. Carat weight is determined by how a diamond is cut in terms of dimension and depth. The larger the diameter of a diamond, the less depth it will have. Carat has no relation to size; therefore, doubling the carat weight of a diamond does not double its size since the stone will increase in both depth and diameter. The carat weight of a diamond is the factor that greatly impacts its final price.

How to Find Jewellery that Suits You

Tuesday 21 February 2012 @ 8:59 pm

Worn by men, women, children and even babies, jewellery has a place in almost everyone’s life. Whether you only have a wedding band on or you glitter like Elizabeth Taylor, you have to start somewhere. Your local mall will have your basic gold and silver collections to fake sparkle for your teens and pre-teens. Stores geared towards older girls have some sassy hoop earrings and flashy club wear to pick from and there’s always some kind of high-end jeweller ready to show you an engagement ring or diamond earrings on the first floor. However, there is a world out there with styles that range from the red carpet to down at Woodstock, that you have access to.

There are places like summer craft fairs where completely unique and artistic forms of jewellery are abundant. Some women that have that extra flair in their style end up creating their own jewellery and selling it to make a living. These pieces are one of kind, just like you. Some types of jewellery found at craft fairs include woven macrame bracelet’s, hemp necklaces with large glass pendants or polished wooden beads. Often times you will find “healing” jewellery there as well. These necklaces, earrings and bracelets are made with specific types of crystals and stones that are believed to connect with your body’s aura (or energy) to relieve stress, loosen muscles and even promote better blood flow through your system.

Make sure to look for little shops in your town. More often than not, local artists will sell their unique pieces in stores that allow community contributions. Also, smaller, lesser known stores can end up having a better variety without the restrictions of the “brand” getting in the way. These stores are also able to name their own prices and you may find them to be lower than you might have expected. If you have an area near you that is a little touristy, these shops also usually carry area specific styles to remind visitors where they got their pieces but these places can end up being a little pricier.

There is always the black hole of searching the Internet. Any type of jewellery or style you may have in your mind can be Googled. Most brick and mortar stores have websites now and if you can’t get to where you wanted to go, then order online and have it come straight to your door. One such site is Etsy. If eBay is an Internet tag sale, then Etsy is an internet craft fair – complete with handmade and/or vintage items. While each person listed with Etsy has their own shop (much like eBay), the choices and looks that are offered range drastically in style and in price. The nice thing about this site is that you can search by key words to match the criteria that you are looking for. Many times, you end up just surfing the options because there is so much to look at and pick from.

When contemplating where to find your flair, think about the occasion and the style you are looking for. There are so many options out there because there are so many stores and people who make and sell a multitude of different styles, shapes and materials for you to decorate yourself with. Mix and match, chunky or dainty – the possibilities are endless.

Choosing and Caring for Silver Jewellery

Tuesday 21 February 2012 @ 8:59 pm

Since the dawn of time, women have been attracted to beautiful things, and have wanted to look good. It’s no wonder that jewellery ranks as one of the top accessories women favor in the quest to look their best. Silver is a great addition to your jewellery collection and can be dressed up in many different ways. Silver is a precious metal that is easily manipulated to form various shapes, according to what you want to achieve. Due to its semi-durability, it’s mixed with a bit of copper to strengthen and protect it from damage. This means that great care should be taken to maintain the original shine and look of your silver jewellery.

When shopping for silver jewellery, make sure that the type you’re looking for is sterling silver. Check that the silver is actually sterling by looking for the number .925 engraved on the jewellery. What this means is that 92.5 percent of the jewellery is pure silver, with a bit of copper and nickel added in. What you want to avoid is any jewellery that is ‘silver plated’ because, quite simply, this is just metal with a coating of silver, and with time, the coating will wear away and reveal the inferior metal underneath.

Silver jewellery is a great way of adorning any outfit, and is perfect for all occasions. Some tips for caring for it include: never swim in your silver jewellery. The silver will react with the chlorine or other minerals in the water and fade much faster with time. When you’re out of the shower and preparing yourself to leave the house, don’t lotion yourself up with your silver ring, bracelets or earrings on. They should be the last thing you put on.

Remove your jewellery and keep it safe before working out at the gym to avoid discoloration. It’s a good idea to invest in a silk pouch that will serve as somewhere you’ll store your silver jewellery when you’re not wearing it, protecting it from scratches and accidental bumps. Regularly polish and clean your silver jewellery. You can easily do this with warm water and a soft cloth every so often, and then polishing it using a specially prepared lacquer that you can find in most jewellery shops.

Before buying silver jewellery, make sure that you’re not allergic to it. Most people don’t know what it is that they’re allergic to when they get a reaction from wearing jewellery. In most cases, silver allergy is in fact due to the other metals that are found in sterling silver jewellery. You could speak to your doctor about this and ask for a test to confirm this allergy.Silver is always relatively low in price, especially in comparison to gold, so it won’t put a dent in your finances. It looks good and gives that extra sparkle to an outfit, making you stand out. Silver jewellery is a perfect gift idea that will bring a smile to the person receiving it, and will carry memories of fondness for years to come.

The Different Types of Weddings Rings

Tuesday 21 February 2012 @ 5:32 am

The most common wedding ring sets are of made from yellow gold, a naturally occurring metal. Yellow gold rings are considered by many religions and cultures as traditional symbols of marriage. Gold is a soft metal; therefore, the assumption that the purer the metal, the more durable it is, is not true. A 24-karat gold ring is easily scratched. If you want durability, the most popular is the 14-karat gold wedding ring, though it is pale in color compared to the purer versions. If you want a more pure, yet durable gold wedding ring, then 18-karat should be your choice, which is 75% gold and 25% alloy.

White gold is gaining popularity because of its modern and stylish look. White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal. When nickel is used as an alloy metal, it produces a strong wedding ring. However, nickel tends to produce allergic reactions for people with sensitive skin. Palladium is used to perfectly balance the softness of gold, and the best white gold quality is that of palladium and 17-karat gold. Other metals such as platinum, silver, and copper can be used to give a ring strength and weight. Since white gold is pale compared to shiny yellow gold, a final shine can be obtained by adding rhodium to the white gold.

Platinum wedding rings are a durable symbol of love as they are one of the hardest metals; they do not lose their vibrancy or scratch over time. Platinum rings are also stylish and elegant, as they have the same sparkling luster that is characteristic of diamond stones. Being a neutral metal, platinum does not react on sensitive skin that is prone to allergies. Most platinum wedding rings are actually 95% platinum, unlike 18-carat gold, which is only 75% gold. Platinum wedding rings are expensive, but are still worth considering because platinum rings last a lifetime.

In spite of titanium being a relatively new wedding ring metal, it is growing in popularity among couples, especially for men. Titanium rings look like white gold rings, but they are so lightweight that wearers hardly notice them. In spite of this, titanium withstands a great deal of wear and tear compared to other metals. Titanium rings are also hypoallergenic, and their low cost makes them a good choice for couples on a tight budget. Titanium wedding rings are available in a variety of colors. Basically, titanium metal is considered to be white, similar to platinum, but with a gray undertone. To produce different color effects, the metal is anodized with a color treatment. However, this color treatment is not permanent and over time, the metal can appear scratched and discolored. Whereas gold wedding rings are more of a traditional choice, titanium wedding rings can be chosen to produce a classic effect using a modern, and funky metal.

Silver is one of the most common metals used for wedding rings around the world. The main reasons for the popularity of silver wedding rings are their versatility and affordability properties. Silver is affordable because the metal is ductile and has a low melting point; therefore, it can easily be resized or engraved. It is also fairly easy to clean the metal using a piece of cloth. Silver wedding rings can either be rich and lustrous, or modern and classic. Most silver wedding ring styles are simple and elegant with many design options to choose from.

Diamonds can be featured in all the different wedding ring metal options; they can be channel set all the way around, or used as an accent on a plain metal band. Diamond wedding rings are available in different sizes, color, and design. You may consider buying a diamond that is not yet set or mounted, which will give you the option of choosing a setting of your preference. Such loose diamonds are available in a variety of shapes such as round, oval, and marquise, with round being the most popular shape.

A Gift of Diamonds: More than Meets the Eye

Tuesday 21 February 2012 @ 3:13 am

Diamond jewelry has long been symbolically linked with enduring love. From the engagement ring to the anniversary eternity band, diamonds mean forever. Diamonds, however, are taking on a new role, that of key component in an investment portfolio. Although the motivation may be to buy an affordable and beautiful piece of diamond jewelry for a loved one, the idea that you are making an investment that will retain and appreciate in worth should not be discounted. Diamonds will always represent a way to say “I love you forever.” The new message diamonds convey is: I love you enough to make sure you are taken care of financially forever.

Buying a diamond for a loved one as an investment is a bit like a parent investing in a savings bond for a child that will grow over time. Why not show your love for your child by giving them a gift of diamond jewelry? A diamond investment portfolio may well appreciate more significantly over time than a bank account. The bonus, of course, is that your child also receives a beautiful and wearable piece of jewelry, a far more tangible expression of parental love than dollars in the bank.

It may seem odd to purchase a piece of diamond jewelry for a loved one with the notion of investment in mind, but what better way to make an expression of lasting love? Choosing a diamond for its value says “I love you” in a whole new way. It says “I love you and want to make sure you never experience financial trouble.” Throughout history diamonds have always maintained their allure and mystery, and affection for diamonds shows no sign of waning. New diamond markets and mining methods have brought colored diamonds into the market in a big way. Pink diamonds, black diamonds, blue diamonds, green diamonds: the possibilities are endless. Depending on rarity and quality, fancy colored diamonds represent not only an exceptional gift of jewelry, but a low-risk and fast-growing investment opportunity.

Fancy colored diamonds have become the newest way to say “You are the only one.” The perfect way to express that you have found your one-in-a-million soul mate is through the uniqueness of a colored diamond. Every colored diamond has its own innate qualities, qualities which increase in value over time. Certain colors are very rare and tend to appreciate in value more quickly, so although you might have a favorite, it’s important to be aware that some carry more inherent value than others. Choosing the right colored diamond will not only give the message that “you are as special as this stone,” it will provide your loved one with valuable financial security that will grow over time.

There are many reasons why people give the gift of diamonds. Although love is the biggest part, financial security is also important. The reality is that financial health can profoundly impact a relationship. A gift of diamond jewelry acknowledges that and reinforces a desire to add value over the long term to the relationship. If you are in a position to do so, purchasing diamonds as raw stones and then having them cut into beautiful pieces of jewelry is an excellent way to give your loved one a distinctive, customized piece of diamond jewelry, while realizing an immediate return on investment value. The ability of diamonds to express love in so many permanent and special ways makes diamond jewelry the perfect gift for any occasion.

Unique Jewellery

Saturday 18 February 2012 @ 12:54 am

Unique jewellery is every woman’s want, to have something beautiful, unique and creative just for her. The only problem is, with the introduction of mass production after the industrial revolution craftsmanship and the uniqueness of every item being crafted from scratch disappeared. Now we are simply left with high street jewellery or overpriced boutique/specialist jewellery, so where is the in between? Where is the artistic flare, reasonable price, innovative and forward design? Well the answer is online! If you want to find some truly unique like trinkets, charms, ornaments, bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, basically anything, you are more than likely to find it on big wide web!

Now the opportunity to start up your own webpage has become as easy as getting a record deal everyone is jumping at the chance. This has given a massive rise in the amount of exceptional and one-off pieces in the world, many coming from the young design community and the older generations that finally have the opportunity to follow their dream.

So steer clear from the high street and the high end yet still mass produced jewellery because honestly who wants to spend over a thousand pounds on an absurdly stunning piece and go to a party and find someone has the exact same item. I feel it kind of defeats the point as well as robbing its expected and paid for exclusivity. You can find visual arousing pieces and reasonable prices online easily all you have to do is do a bit of research.

It is isn’t easy to find cool online stores granted, search engines don’t have this feature yet, but from my research it will be on its way soon and it won’t be by G and it won’t be the way you think. So how do you find these sites? Well there will be a link at the bottom of this article to one but without sounding biased I’ll explore further, as search engines work in keywords what you need to do is give your search as much specific information as possible so for example you want to browse some cool funky red feature necklaces for your party on Saturday, you could type in unique, red, feather, necklace, shop. You will then be given a load of links to quirky online stores, personal webpages, university based shops and other cool outlets with jewellery on them. You have literally hundreds of options to work from and after you’ve given a few variations on your keywords and overviewed a few websites you will soon become an expert and finding unique jewellery pieces online. You’ll break the mould and beat the crowd and isn’t that supposed to be what being unique is all about?
